AutoLocation geofence does not work without Google Play services

schklom · 1 · Last reply by João Dias
    • Problems
    1. AutoLocation Geofences cannot be defined, no map shows up, and the error message is `AutoLocation won't run without Google Play services, which are not supported by your device.`
    2. No location can be searched either. Note that the `Location` profile (in Tasker directly) works despite the map not working, by manually typing GPS coordinates.

    • Technical info

My phone runs GrapheneOS without MicroG or Google Play Services, and I have installed the Direct Purchase version of Tasker and AutoLocation.

    • Idea of solution

Support interacting with a map from OpenStreetMap instead of only supporting Google.

AutoInput accessibility service bug causes manual screen rotate button to glitch

Matthias · 1 · Last reply by João Dias

    Hello João!

I have an issue that causes the manual screen rotate button to glitch. This is the button that allows you to rotate the screen orientation when auto-rotate is off and the device is tilted. Normally it appears in the bottom right corner and shows a smooth animation. However with the AutoInput accessibility service enabled, the button flickers erratically and the animation restarts tens of times per second. This bug is purely cosmetic and does not affect the functionality of the button.

I noticed the issue over a year ago on my old phone but only found out AI

%app_apk_public_source_dirs() returned by the App Info action contains variable names and duplicates when Package/App Name is provided through a variable

I have issues · 3 · Last reply by João Dias

App Info output variable %app_apk_public_source_dirs() returns the paths to split APK files belonging to an app. When App Info receives the package name through a variable, for example when in the enter task of a profile triggered by event New Package or Package Updated which passes the package name in %evtprm2, the output contains duplicates and variable names %app_apk_public_source_dirs[numbers up to 10].

For example, we install Simple Flashlight from the Play Store (so it consists of multiple APKs) and set Package/App Name in App Info to com.simplemobiletools.flashlight. %app_apk_public_source_dirs() returns:

    Notification event not triggering.

Glen · 1 · Last reply by João Dias

I am attempting to create a profile that notifies me when a package has been delivered.

    The setup should be straightforward:

If a notification from the shop app contains the phrase "your package is here" in its title, execute the "play sound" task.

However, this profile is not functioning as expected. I'm using the app automateit to send custom notifications on command to test if the profile is working properly, but the profile fails to recognize the notification.

Latest Android Update has killed file permissions within Autotools

Burny · 2 · Last reply by João Dias

    Hi

It seems like the latest Pixel update has screwed with any AutoTool functions that involve reading/writing to a file on your phone. It prompts you to grant permission, which you can do, but they refuse to be granted to Autotools regardless of how many times you try. JSON read and SSH functions have been impacted by this.

    Notification removed event documentation

StaffanT · 1 · Last reply by João Dias

The help text for the Notification Removed event states that it doesn't work for Tasker-generated events. My testing tells me that this is not true, it doesn't work for notifications created by the same app that created the notification in the first place, not only Tasker. IMHO it should work as documented, letting kid apps react on the removal of their own notifications. As it is now a plugin, free or paid, is required in addition to the kid app to achieve this, which doesn't make sense. This is particularly important in Android 14+ where Google have taken away the

    Hi,

last week I´ve received first Hyper OS update to android 14 for my Xiaomi Mi11 Lite 5G NE. I am not able to get Tasker turn off/on wifi without accepting a prompt message about turning wifi on/off. I´ve tried to sideload Tasker settings by adb USB(version 12, 17.1 and version for Huawei/Xiaomi) but with the same result. I´ve granted the permissions right after Tasker settings install and disabling battery optimization. It´s has been 10 years I am using Tasker, I hope we´ll solve the issue, obviously I am not the only one with this problem...

'Variable Convert' write access to 'Name' when 'Store Result In' is used

Pascal · 1 · Last reply by João Dias

The Variable Convert action will check if it can write to the variable used in Name even if Store Result In is used. If Store Result In is used, there should never be written to the original variable and therefore there is no need to check if it has write access to this variable.

Currently this will give the "Can't write values to variable structure" error if it can't write to the original variable, even if it will actually never attempt to.

    Minimal working example:

Maybe this isn't limited to the Variable Convert action, but it is where I encountered
