What I've tried:

I've gone through the checklist of Why don't Tasker or its plugins work in the background on my device. This didn't help.

Oddly enough, it seems to work better if I turn off Keep Accessibility Running for Autoinput, but this only keeps it running a bit longer before it fails.

I've tried using Enable Just When Needed, but this does not work.
