App Selection from should include a search/filter field
App Selection form (used by "Launch App" action) would be more easy to use if it included a search field

Can we have the option to view run log time down to the MILLISECOND, instead of just to the second?
A lot of the time I have tasks that I would like to time-optimize. I would like to know which actions in the task are the slowest ones. It would greatly improve my judgment to know how slow each action is in my tasks.
The run log shows us the time each action happened, but sadly it only tells us the time down to the second. NOT to the millisecond.
PLEASE allow us to enable more exact timestamps to be shown on the run log. For users like me who want a better understanding of each action's latency, this is

read fingerprint action
As a user I would like Tasker to read fingerprint on demand and react to it by logic (registered fingerprint) by type (gesture or normal read) and by task (invoke any task). Yes , I know there is already the authenticate dialogue, but it uses the OS UI while I want only the action itself. Currently I'm using a 3rd party app to invoke task in Tasker.

Tasker > Set Tasker Preference > Lock Code not working
I was hoping to use this feature to lock out Tasker for X period from any use by generating a random PIN, then reverting it back to a known one after a period (toggle Task style).
However, the Set Preference > Lock Code causes the PIN to be reset despite it's value, thus disabling the lock.
Thanks.

Profile conditions for Scenes
In scenes, often elements may change values, size and images by reacting to conditions, the problem though I have to test each element to know its current state and then decide what to do with it.
Some elements may change in the background based on other element condition or based on another task that is running in the background
I would like to specify conditions as a profile that would matter for scenes and then run tasks that will affect on them (I suppose that the first and obligatory condition is that the scene is created.

Support mp4 videos in the Set Wallpaper action
Tasker currently only supports png and jpg image files in the Set Wallpaper action. Most modern phones now support live wallpapers, which are often .mp4 videos up to 15 seconds long.
It would be nice to be able to support these .mp4 videos in the Set Wallpaper action.

Hi, Joao. I need a Python API interface to tasker to create new tasks in Ultimate-ToDo-List.
I'm writing app in Python that I would like to be able to create new tasks in Ultimate-ToDo-List via Tasker. So, I need an API library for Python.

Make more Javascript libraries supported by default in Tasker!
I think having more Javascript libraries supported by default in Tasker would be a huge benefit to Tasker!
For example:
This library, which provides NLP date parsing, would make it pretty easy to automatically add calendar events by parsing sentences such as: "We have a meeting at 6 on Tuesday".
Not sure if there are any copyright issues, but this is my one idea worth sharing.
Edits:
In other words: Here are the default libraries in Tasker, I just want this list to be longer.
A suggestion from /u/EllaTheCat on /r/tasker is to just add a load library action,

An action to get the cordinates of the current fingers on the screen.
I'm planing a useful task, but there is a crutial step, which is getting the current finger location on the screen, and see if the finger is touching on a specific area, then perform different actions.
I've searched many methods, but neither Tasker Actions nor Plugins can offer the touched location. I know that using Java Function (android.view.accessibility) might be able to do it, but it's a pity I'm not knowlegeable about java function.
So here I wish Joao Dias could add Tasker an action of getting touched location. This action would bring greatly convinience for some scenes.

auto save task when back button is pressed
I think it's happen to all of us : we are trying to make a new task and someone call us on phone, or we receive important message => after, bad habits maybe, we close all the programs running in background...and we close tasker and we lost all our work !! :'(
The feature to auto save the task without clicking on the check mark on the top right side will be great
what do you think ?

PROFILES>>>Application。 Use package or application name global variable
PROFILES>>>Application。 When the application is used as a trigger condition, the application selection hopes to support package name / application name filling like autoinput, support variable filling, and adds a search function to facilitate selection.

New movement controls for projects/groups at the bottom of tasker
Currently, it is quite tedious creating a new project and moving it to where you want it to be if you already have several projects created. Everytime you hold in on the project and move it left, or right, it only moves one time and you have to repeat till you get the project where you want it with other projects. Would be sweet if you could hold and drag them where you want them, or have a move button that had a constant "left" and "right" button with a check mark next to them to move them where you

"SSH support" and "File Dialog" request (also with a bug report)
Tasker and Autotools feedback
Environment
I'm using Tasker v2.9.3.beta and Autotools v2.2.3 on android 10 MIUI.
Problem (bug probably)
I used the Autotool SSH action, which should return the a result after sending a command using ssh. The problem is it either return an error, nor a result, the result variable is empty. The same ssh command ran in a normal terminal has the expected result. I recorded a video for this.
Suggestions
I'd like to suggest that two actions should be integreted to tasker:
-
SSH
-
File dialog
SSH
For many people, SSH is a really unreplaceable and important tool,

Encrypted backups
As of now, tasker backups are stored in XML format and is naked. It would be great if it is encrypted or at least locked, below are my suggestions:
- Encryted XML content with a key like RSA + optional passphrase
- Zip the file and lock it with a passphrase
No need to grant them all, at least our setup are locked.
Please also force us to use strong passphrases.
JSON format would be great too since it would be smaller (I think) in size than XML format thus making the encryption or zip locking process a little bit faster

SSH support can make Tasker more powerful
Tasker is very powerful now, but certainly there are still many tasks Tasker can't do. Such as using ffmpeg converting a video, compressing a png image, run a python script, rotate a video, download a youtube video, etc.
It is so good that tasker can run Shell Code to use some command line tools that android supports. But the limitation is that android shell can not install other powerful command line tools if you have no root permission.
Yet, there is another app called Termux( a terminal tool ) can run many Command Line Tools , such as : FFmpeg,

Allow declaring of variables. Please read.
There is a lot to this suggestion, but please read it all, it’s worth it.
Declaring a variable changes how a variable is used, until that variable is next named in a Declare Variable action.
Action for Declare Variable has three values:
Variables:
A comma separated list of variable names.
Assign Out:
This option controls what happens when the value of an unset variable is referenced.
standard:
The variable reacts as at present.
unset:
When a variable is declared with this option, instead of

Detect (changes to) status bar colour
Sometimes when displaying scenes or web screens, it's useful to know whether the status bar is 'light' or 'dark'. While you can do find out using AutoInput's screen capture action, it's not very reliable or efficient, flashes a somewhat distracting black bar, and can't be used to detect changes between the two states.

Add a dedicated action for audio routing
Hello Joao,
I would like to ask you if a dedicated action to reroute audio from one channel to another could be included on future Tasker releases, if possible.
The idea comes from the SoundAbout app, and my task where I have managed to do a basic routing using the Multimedia audio channel. (by now)
As a reference to the task:
