Tasker's Google Play version works by quering the Google Play store if it's licensed. If Google Play is not present then that will happen. You can always switch to the direct-purchase version that you can get via PayPal if you're interested :)

I'm also affected by this. Are you saying I have to pay for it twice? This is aggravating since all I'm trying to do is export my profiles to a new device, but Tasker just hits me with "Trial Over" popups and won't let me do anything.

Also, what about the paid add-on packages I also purchased through the play store? I use Aurora Store and I can install and use any of my other paid apps fine that way.

Unfortunately I do have costs associated with the direct-purchase version. I have to keep my own server to manage those licenses, so I can't simply give away the direct-purchase versions, sorry :(

Did you not keep a backup on the device you're trying to export stuff from?

I don't want you to give it away, and I also don't want to pay full price twice just because you added this annoying DRM. Is there some way we can discuss this privately, in email? I have more to say about this that it better not put here.

Sure, you can email me, no problem. My email address is listed in every one of my app's Google Play Store's pages.
