Autoinput loses Accessibility

I have a Samsung S24 running Android 15, everything is up-to-date, Tasker and Autoinput are set for unrestricted background use and Tasker is set to keep Accessibility running for itself and Autoinput. Once a day or so, I get the Accessibility notification that Autoinput service is running, so all seems to be OK.

But every few days, Accessibility stops for Autoinput and I have to turn it off and back on. I've also noticed that, when it does work, the Autoinput action takes much longer than it did previously. This all went south about the time that my phone updated from Android 14 to 15.

What I've tried:
  • I've gone through the checklist of Why don't Tasker or its plugins work in the background on my device. This didn't help.
  • Oddly enough, it seems to work better if I turn off Keep Accessibility Running for Autoinput, but this only keeps it running a bit longer before it fails.
  • I've tried using Enable Just When Needed, but this does not work.

are you able to turn on the service manually when that error happens?

DM

I can turn it back on manually in Android Settings, but the odd thing is that the setting switch shows that it is already on, even though the status says that it's not running. I can then turn the switch off and back on and it will then work for a while (perhaps a day or two) before it fails again.

Since I posted the issue, I've set up a Tasker profile that runs every hour to turn off Accessibility for Autoinput, wait two seconds, then turn it back on. That seems to work as a workaround.

Great. The problem is that sometimes the system will simply kill the service and there's nothing the app can do about it. I'm glad you found a workaround!
