8.1 getting java.lang.securityexception
See the attachment. Happens when tasker tries to set a ringtone. App permissions are turned on.

Just found the solution. In the Android settings/notifications for Tasker, lower down after the permissions is advanced/modify system settings. It must have been reset to not allowed after the last update. Set it to allowed and all is golden again.
If you edit the action, it doesn't prompt you for those permissions?
