Set wallpaper not working on Google pixel 4 xl

The set wallpaper task used to work fine until an android update some time back.

For a few weeks now this hasn't been working. Instead of setting the wallpaper to the selected image, it sets it to an image I don't recognize (the one in the attachment).

I am also attaching a screenshot of the task

yes.

I created this action and ran it by pressing the play button in the bottom left of the screen.

When I do so, the wallpaper changes to the below

That's very weird. Does it make a different if you disable the Scale option?

E

very good shout! I didn't think about trying.

Having deselected the scale option is setting the wallpapers using the correct images. I suppose the problem is that however now the images are not being scaled to fit the screen

Thank you! I'm trying to reproduce the scaling issue and I can't seem to do it... Do you get the exact same background with scaling enabled, independently of the background image you select in the Tasker action?

E

yes, it's always the same and it's always this - regardless of what other image I select when scaling is ticked

Hhmm, is that maybe a default wallpaper that's available on your device that you can select from the built-in wallpaper list?

E

Potentially, but I don't know for sure

Could you please check by trying to set the wallpaper manually and see if it shows in that list? Thanks!

E

there are a bunch of categories when you go in the wallpapers menu.

I opened some of them (not all). They all contain dozens of pictures, and I can't spot that specific one... sorry!

Thanks again. What happens if you use the Crop option? How does that work for you?

E

Cropping seems to work as expected.

I also tested what happens when both scaling and cropping are selected at the same time.

That also changes the wallpaper to the selected image

Hi.

Sorry, Did u figure out how to solve it? My phone is acting weird too and I don't know what to do

Hi. Can you please share the original image that you're trying to set as the wallpaper so I can try it out? Thanks

E

Hi, sure. It's below.

However the image is irrelevant. The same thing happens with any image I try, not a specific one.

Thanks. Does the same thing happen if you create a new test task and manually select the wallpaper file there (without using variables) and then run the action directly in Tasker?
