There is an open-source app called Be Nice that seems to have successfully implemented split screen support for modern Android devices. If you are editing a task it would be nice to be able to save changes directly in that view. 

I see variations on this request (autosave, save on exit, etc.) but what would be really helpful for me would simply be the ability to save a task while in edit mode. I've lost changes many times. When building or  troubleshooting a task I am often in it for a long time and needing to back out and save, then re-enter then, back out, then save...
