Scenes can be used as WIDGETS on the Homescreen

This is something that has been sorely missing from Tasker for sooo long. The ability for a Tasker Scene to be placed as an anchorable widget on the homescreen.

This eliminates the need for work-arounds like using Zooper or KLWP, etc. It'll probably involve developing a whole new widget for Tasker but it'll be worth it. If anyone can figure it out - it's you Joao!!

Almost every app that has customizable widgets has an option to go to the widget config screen by tapping the upper right corner, which is an invisible button to the config screen.

Maybe when placing such widget on the home screen Tasker pops up and asks you for an id (string or number). Then in a flow / task you can add the action "change widget text content" one variabel is the id. Maybe a second action called "change widget configuration" is possible. This action would allow a flow / task to change color, text size, line height, letter spacing, text orientation, font etc about the widget.

But that's kind of like the existing action to update a widget right, just with more options? It's not related to the request made here...

It would better if we can set the scene as a whole launcher home screen🙏

Try kwgt in the mean time and export data from Tasker.

Dude I love you! Kwgt never showed up for me on Google Play during all the time when I was looking up an alternative to Dashclock because Google thinks "This app is not compatible with your device" 🙄 (Mi 11 Ultra with Nova Launcher). But I downloaded apk and installed externally. And I love it - it's so polished and the Tasker integration is awesome - Thank you for the recommendation!

Please João, creating widgets from scenes is a sorely missing feature. I spent last two days trying out several different widgets to get all the data I prefer to have on my homescreen, and none worked (only now defunct Dashclock comes close).

It would be better to work on launchers' related feature since Autotools already has access to launcher modifications for example setting the scene as a home screen that would be great 🏡👆

Or update the Zoom application to the current state.

I think it would be much better to add in Tasker all the widget editor functions of the Zoom app. That would allow child apps to interact with their own widgets without needing another additional app.

I would love this also.  I currently use MinimalisticText widgets that display Tasker variables.  I have seen lag issues with that app so it would be awesome to use native functions in Tasker instead of MT widgets.

The main issue I see with this is that widgets don't support all controls that normal apps do so it would have to be restricted :)

Even if it started as being display-only, with basic button functionality to run Tasks - that would still be huge!

Two years! And it's still in the top 5 requests! How about a widget that can just display text and icons?? Even if in a pre-arranged non-user-configurable layouts?

So the text and icons could be changed dynamically via Tasker, just not their layout/placement. For starters anyhow. And over time, maybe in two more years (lol) - perhaps the layout could become configurable, via a widget editor or something.

Because when you think about it - right now Tasker has NO BUILT IN STATIC OUTPUT OPTIONS. Other than to make a notification, or a Scene displayed in "Overlay > Blocking." which is less than ideal.

Yeah, sorry about that. I want to make the current beta available for everyone now before starting to implement some big changes again. Maybe after that I can get back to this!

Now it's been 4 Years!! And it's the #2 request on the list.

How about let's make it super simple. I'm sure you can do this, because right now - the text label on a Tasker widget can be changed by a Task Action.

So just create a Tasker Widget that resizable beyond just 1x1 and make it so it just displays text. Nothing else. No interactivity Just shows text. Can you do it?

Yes, that would be doable, but how exactly would you edit such a widget?
