send emails without request

I think it is really useful to insert a function to send emails without request (being able to configure the various smtp parameters), now I can do it with an external plugin but it would be better to have it integrated.

Would this be with any email provider and not just Gmail?

I guess it would be better if there were an option to specify the SMTP though if one is intended by the user other than Gmail, but even Gmail alone would make so many users happy again. It's been a long time so many users are asking for it :)

With the plugin that i use, i can configure any SMTP with authentication. It work great but i think that a similar integrated function would be
really useful.

I second this request. It should be possible to use any email provider by configuring the needed parameters (fqdn, port, user credentials, SSL/TLS, ...)

The main issue is that a bulky library is needed for this to be added. It's not super straight-forward.
