Is it possible to do a little something with the main screen Ui, specifically the + in a circle on the bottom right that lets you create new profiles.

The screen shot shows how the icon half obscures the last section on the bottom of the screen. To be honest the whole placement looks a bit bodged, there is lots of space in the title bar for that icon (between the search icon and the Tasker word) Wouldn't it be a better use of space to insert the + icon there?

Another alternative then would be to place the + icon before the house icon on the bottom row with a separator between.
The point being that the + icon isn't obscuring any other items or text like it does now.

Agreed. The FAB should be translucent and/or moveable.

I think the FAB should be removed everywhere except the task edit screen.

On the other sceens where it appears, it should be replaced by a + icon somewhere to the right of Tasker in the title bar.

Thank you. Can you please clarify why you feel that way?

RR

I've argued against the FAB on the profile and task list screens since it was first introduced, on the grounds that there simply isn't room. There is nowhere on those two screens where the FAB would not be in the way of something.

My original suggestion of putting it in the title bar is probably not the best idea though. I think a better plan would be:

* Add a '+' tab to either the right (default) or left side of the project bar. When the '+' tab is clicked, pop up a menu with "New Task", "New Profile", etc. Items

* Also add a 'New...' item to the menu that drops down when you long-press the Profile, Task and Scene tabs. This menu is under utilized, IMO.

Then, in the Tasker  UI preferences, you could add a new menu called "When adding Profiles, Tasks, etc." with the options "Floating Button", "Project Bar, Right", "Project Bar, Left", "Menu Only".

I think these changes would give a cleaner look and improve the user experience .

Thanks for the feedback. Appreciate it!

But if you feel like it's in the way in the main screen, why don't you feel the same about the task edit screen?

RR

My original thought was that there is nothing important, on that screen, in the lower right hand corner.

However, for consistency across the entire UI, this screen should follow whatever is being done on the other screens. So, if the user has chosen "Project Bar, Left" or "Project Bar, Right", the FAB should be hidden and a '+' button placed in the bottom bar on the left or right side respectively.

The "Menu Only" option would be a challenge here because there is no menu to put the "New..." item in. Also, while starting a new task or profile with two clicks is not a big deal, having to do two clicks for every action would be inconvenient.

I think this could be split into "Menu Only, Action Left" and "Menu Only, Action Right". Then, on the task edit screen, use a '+' button in the bottom bar on the left or right side respectively.

Thanks again!

it obstructs bottom tabs and the last task/profile line:
