Variable failing to create with ' + ' button

When I press the + button to create a variable then I type in the Variable name and press the ✔️, the variable fails to create.....

Hi. When a variable is created but it's not used anywhere, it'll go into the base project, so please look for it there :) Or you can use it in a task in that currently selected project and it'll also show up there as well..
