Pick input dialog

I've been playing with the Pick Input Dialog action and have found that the ContactNumber type behaves differently to that of the Send SMS Search Number option, even though they seem to do exactly the same thing. When using the Pick Input Dialog there is a long delay after selecting a contact but selecting a contact with the search function in Send SMS is immediate. I understand that these two actions may not be completely the same but the underlying code might be (?) So my question is, can the Pick Input Dialog be enhanced so that it behaves in the same way as (for example) the Send SMS Search Contact? It would be great ...
