Backup

1) Update the backup system using Android built-in backup

2) Add a new action to trigger the backup from a task

The new beta now has automatic backup to Google Drive. You also have a Google Drive File Upload action so you can backup whenever you like :)

Awesome! Thanks for working on this one, Joao. This is very helpful.

Thanks, looking forward to seeing this in standard Tasker :)

Hopefully an update to the backup system would resolve an existing bug where manual backups are not picked up by profiles that look for file modifications.

For example I have a profile which uses the file modified event to look for changes in Configs/User. If I manually change a file in that location the profile triggers fine, but if a file in there is changed by the Tasker backup routine nothing happens...

Agree. Need a user controlled backup which uses standard Android backup.

See Tasker -> preferences -> MISC -> Android Cloud Backup.

Backup is automatic whenever changes are made so no need for an action

1) Tasker still uses the an old backup system and it's not reliable at all

2) An action is needed if you don't want to have a periodic backup, but you know something is changed and you want to manage the backup yourself

RB

Yeah, but the current automatic backup solution is kind of the nuclear option. An action to do a controlled backup just when wanted would be great.
