Copy the open-source Be Nice app's split screen functionality to fix Tasker

Grinn · 2 · Last reply by Grinn

There is an open-source app called Be Nice that seems to have successfully implemented split screen support for modern Android devices. Perhaps Tasker could use it for inspiration on getting its Split Screen feature working again. Here's the source on GitHub: tkuenneth/BeNice: Split-screens on Android made easy

(Note: I'm not affiliated with Be Nice. I just ran into it on Reddit.)

Can Tasker Support Shizuku and Sui?

cyanver · 1 · Last reply by Azek

    Shizuku:

    https://github.com/RikkaApps/Shizuku

Using system APIs directly with adb/root privileges from normal apps through a Java process started with app_process.

    Sui:

    https://github.com/RikkaApps/Sui

Modern super user interface (SUI) implementation on Android. It mainly provides the ability to use Android APIs directly (almost in Java as the identity of the root, and start app's own AIDL-style Java service under root.

Swiftbackup, sai and icebox already support shizuku, and greenify will supoort it soon.

Use Shizuku as background alternative to ADB and/or Root

The very, very short description of Shizuku is that it is an App that allow other apps to use actions reserved for ADB or Rooted devices.

Shizuku is on the PlayStore, and the whole procedure is incredibly easy in comparison to Root, and even ADB Wifi.

And yeah, I know you've implemented ADB Wifi shenanigans, but If the user has Tasker and any of these apps, then they are likely not going to want to do a separate procedure for Tasker. Unlike ADB Wifi and the Permissions App, it also means that tutorials and guides are offloaded to Shizuku

    Use shizuku for adb privilege

It would be nice to acquire ADB privilege from Shizuku rather than having it separately.

    Wifi connect doesn't work

    Borpo · 0 · Posted

Brand new install of Tasker on a Fairphone 6 running /e/OS version 3.0.2 (Android 15).

I created a dead simple task to connect to a specific wifi network, but it fails. I get an error notification prompting me to email the dev ("Can't connect to wifi - Please click here to contact the developer about this issue") . I did a fair bit of research, but everything I saw about wifi not working was a few years old.

I had things working fine on my Fairphone 5 running /e/OS version 2.9 (Android 13) so I'm guessing it's something about the

sliders in Tasker actions difficult to control

    Malcolm · 0 · Posted

Could the sliders (SeekBars) used by Tasker actions be improve or made customizable in settings? I find it impossible to use the press-and-drag method -- they just don't move, and the click method is very hit-and-miss.  Using the arrows is often impracticable when the value range is large since the arrows change the value by only +/-1.  Also in some cases a "logarithmic" (actually "exponential") scale would be more appropriate, e.g. for setting a Beep tone frequency where getting somthing in the middle of the audio spectrum on a linear scale that goes from ~0 to 16000 is extremely awkward.

Allow exporting Task/Project as app with additional files

Mishaal Rahman · 3 · Last reply by GlitchYou

Being able to create apps within Tasker is probably its neatest feature, but there's one rather annoying caveat: there's no option to export with additional files!

You have to use convoluted workarounds such as this: Reddit

There's also an app that helps you do it but it has file size limitations. Play Store
